Bhavnagar

I'm not sure anyone outside of India has ever heard of  Bhavnagar as it's definitely not on the tourist circuit, but given the long travel distances in India a necessary stop for us.

We left Diu before 5. 30 am... guess why!
Tarun tried to tell me it was so I could see an Indian sunrise, see the sleeping villages and drive before it was too hot but I knew better. Bhavnagar was about 3 hours drive from Diu and the India/Oz cricket game started at 9 am Indian time.

All of what Tarun said was true though. The sunrise was beautiful.

Driving through the sleeping villages was interesting too. Once again we somehow ended up driving through all of the little village narrow streets  with the shop fronts closed and the people sleeping. A very different view from what we see during the day. The dogs seemed to be very active at that time though. As the sun rose India woke up. Lots of little fires along the road as people swept up the previous days rubbish and burnt it. A bigger fire in one village where they were cremating a body, the men all sitting around dressed in white.

We eventually arrived at our hotel just in time for the beginning of the cricket. Tarun had obviously sweet- talked asomeone as they let us into our room very early. Unfortunately the cricket result wasn't what either of us wanted. We were both really looking forward to a final between our two countries.

We finally got out to explore the city. It has a very large forest park with a lake in the middle of it... A walk was very welcome after sitting around most of the day. We saw a funny looking deer, lots of water birds and a peacock.

One of the things I like doing most in the evenings is going to the temple and just sitting and watching and listening. Bhavnagar has another particularly nice one.

It doesn't take long wandering around these places before you long for a shower. I've decided that having a shower and washing your hair is the best feeling in the whole world!! So it was back to the hotel for that shower followed by dinner. Now we are back in Gurarat there is very little chicken or even eggs but tonight's cashew nut curry was really nice.

Tomorrow? Who knows!!!!
